History of Patriot Day

It was a horrific day when four planes were hijacked (also known as Nine-Eleven) on September 11, 2001. The hijackers flew three planes into the iconic building: the Pentagon in Washington DC and the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center in New York. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after the passengers of the plane fought with the hijackers. No one is sure where it was supposed to crash. But some believe it was the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the retreat of Camp David President in Maryland, or one of several nuclear power plants along the east coast.

The impact of this attack was devastating. About 3,000 people were killed, including the passengers of the plane, the buildings that were hit, and the front row workers trying to save people. It was the largest terrorist attack in the United States. Since then, aircraft security has become tighter in many countries as they try to avoid future terrorist attacks like the Nine-Eleven.

There were mostly people working on the Twin Towers, especially on the upper floor of the point of collision as people were trapped and trapped on the top of the burning skyscraper. Eleven men and women working in the emergency services lost their lives trying to put out the fire and rescue people from the building. It was a heartbreaking attack, which is why President George W. Bush declared Patriot Day and recognized September 11 every year.
